2017 Snow Shoot Workshop –

As soon as we have any significant snowfall, I will offer a three-hour, outdoor workshop on how to correctly and creatively photograph a snow landscape. I will monitor potential snowfalls and then announce a date, time, and location. If you got this newsletter, you will get the announcement. With a small degree of luck we can make it on a Saturday. I expect people to dress warmly, bring a tripod, and I will work with getting a correct exposure for optimum effect.

Guild Members free; non-members $15 and must enroll by filling out form, emailing me at dannysg@frontier.com or calling me at (574) 370-6192.  – Danny Graber

Congratulations to Jeff Longenbaugh – winner of the Photo of the Month contest for November

This photo of a preening sandhill crane was taken in Florida on 11/12/16.  Four sandhills were walking along a canal then leisurely paused for some feather upkeep. We were visiting the in-laws in central Florida.

Leica V-Lux camera.  F4. 1/500 sec. ISO 400. Focal length 106mm.  Handheld.

An evening rendition of the Jefferson Street bridge in South Bend. The position of the moon was interesting. Capturing this photo and retaining clarity as well as it remaining noise-free required several things: 1) a tripod, 2) a low ISO setting, 3) using the mirror lock-up/shutter delay feature on my camera, and 4) a remote shutter release.

Shutter speed was 2 seconds, f/8, ISO 320, RAW capture, taken at 14mm using my Nikon 14-24mm lens.
